The Australian acacia rises beautifully and gracefully to a height of 16 meters in central Australia in the form of about 1,000 different subspecies and is thus the continent’s most widespread tree. When the Europeans colonized the country, they found these trees filled with small balls of yellow flowers and thought they were very reminiscent of those they knew from Africa in particular, hence the same name. Nowadays, many Australians have thought it was time for the tree to get its own Australian name and in Queensland the choice fell on Racosperma. However, other states and territories did not follow, so this name has never been further spread.
