The mahogany tree forms a huge family of about 1,000 varieties and is one of the rainforest’s many thousands of species and a tree we all know for its beautiful colour and hardness. It is used worldwide in the furniture and construction industry as a highly sought-after material and is therefore expensive. Some varieties of mahogany have been so coveted that they are now listed and listed on the CITES list, but this has unfortunately prevented an increasing industrial deforestation.
